Knee Replacement Surgery
Dr Jason Hockings offers personalised total knee replacement surgery, using modern surgical techniques aimed at enhancing comfort, joint alignment, and long-term outcomes.
He utilises advanced pre-operative planning tools, including 3D imaging, to tailor each procedure to the patient’s individual anatomy and natural alignment.
During surgery, Dr Hockings often applies kinematic alignment principles, with the goal of restoring the knee’s natural movement by aligning the implant with the patient’s original joint structure. He frequently uses the Medacta Sphere knee implant, which is specifically designed to improve stability and replicate natural knee motion during everyday activities.
Hip Replacement Surgery
Dr Jason Hockings performs total hip replacement surgery using both the anterior minimally invasive (AMIS) and posterior approaches, carefully selecting the technique that best suits each patient’s individual anatomy and clinical needs.
He utilises advanced 3D pre-operative planning technology to develop a precise surgical plan prior to the procedure, helping to optimise implant placement and promote long-term joint function.
Where suitable, Dr Hockings employs the AMIS technique, which avoids cutting through major muscles and may support a faster, less painful recovery. He frequently uses AMIS-compatible stems and dual mobility implants, which are designed to enhance hip stability and reduce the risk of dislocation—while eliminating the need for traditional cutting blocks during surgery.
Shoulder Replacement Surgery
Dr Jason Hockings performs both anatomical and reverse shoulder replacement procedures, selecting the most appropriate approach based on the condition of the shoulder joint and surrounding soft tissues.
Using detailed pre-operative planning, each procedure is tailored to the patient’s unique anatomy, with the goal of reducing pain and restoring functional shoulder movement.
An anatomical shoulder replacement is generally recommended when the rotator cuff is intact, preserving the joint’s natural mechanics. In cases where the rotator cuff is severely torn or non-functional, Dr Hockings may perform a reverse shoulder replacement—a technique that changes the mechanics of the joint to allow other muscles, such as the deltoid, to compensate for lost function and provide improved stability.
“My focus is on hip and knee surgery, including joint replacement, sports injuries, and soft tissue reconstruction. I also manage shoulder conditions and trauma. My goal is always to relieve pain, restore mobility, and support you in getting back to your daily activities.”
